I’ve read quite a few books and these are some that stand out for me as being among my favourite:
The Go-Giver
Bob Burg and John David Mann
For such a small, quick read this little book really packs some punch. Told in metaphor (as a story rather than in the format of a more traditional self help book), it’s really easy to resonate with the messages and apply the principles to your own life. It really is a great example of the amazing power of metaphor.
Wire Yourself For Wealth
Laura Leigh Clarke
A great mix of business and personal development. Whether you’re employed, self employed or unemployed and looking for ways to attract wealth and effect positive change in your life then this book is worth a read.
The Five Love Languages
Gary Chapman
This was one that I saw Marie Forleo recommend as she uses the love languages to help her working relationships with staff. I got the audio version and, though I struggle with his voice, the content is superb. It has totally changed the way I think in a positive way. I LOVE this book!
ReWork
Jason Fried and David Heinmeir Hansson
I loved this book. It was a gift from a friend and one I’d been lusting after for a while. From the creators of Basecamp this is a ‘dip in’ book. You can read the chapters in any order and there’s loads of great tips to get you thinking about how you run your business and perhaps look at things a little differently.
Eat That Frog
Brian Tracy
A fun book designed to get you taking action and getting more productive. If you have regular tea breaks with Polly Procrastination then this is a book for you. His simple message: just eat that frog!
E-Squared
Pam Grout
I’m a great believer in Law of Attraction and if you’ve not discovered that yet then this is a wonderful starting point for you to dip your toe in the water and start discovering the power you have within you to attract the things you want in your life. Time to start your cosmic shopping list.
The One Minute Millionaire
Mark Victor Hansen
I got the extended version of this on Audible and at 12 hours long it’s quite a time investment but well worth it. The core principles are outlined in the first half and then Michelle’s story puts them into real life situations in the second half. This is going to be a book I listen to more than once.
4 Hour Work Week
Tim Ferris
This is an awesome book.
I listened to the audible version AND bought a paperback copy and I actually wrote and used a highlighter in it which is unheard of for me. If you want to shift your thinking when it comes to work/life balance then this is a must read.
The Gifts of Imperfection
Brené Brown
What a wonderful book this is.
I love Brené Brown’s work and her TED talks are among my favourite. This book expands on that and really hits deep. I got emotional on more than one ocassion while listening to it. Highly recommend it.
Start With Why
Simon Sinek
Another cracking read,
Start With Why does exactly that; Simon Sinek skilfully explains why knwing your ‘why’ when it comes to business is the only way to truly build a powerful brand and incredibly loyal following. Essential reading for every business owner.
59 Seconds
Richard Wiseman
I loved this book. Again, a bit of an NLP style, psychological read and again one that is very ‘dip-in-able’. Each chapter is a different subject on how we do things, see things or act on things. Done in a very readable way this book covers quite complex subjects in a very approachable way.
Life’s Operating Manual
Tom Shadyac
I have recommended this book so many times. A wonderful and unexpected find. Written as a dialogue between Truth and Fear, Tom Shadyac covers some deep life stuff in a brilliant way. It’s really reMarchkably insightful, yet feels light to read. It was a pleasure to read and got the old grey matter working too.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad
Robert Kiyosaki
I have been recommended this book by a few friends and put off reading it. This year I bit the bullet and am so glad I did because it changed the way I felt about money and opened my eyes up to some possibilities I hadn’t considered were open to me.
Everyone should read this book.
No B.S. Time Management For Entrepreneurs
Dan S Kennedy
An awesome book that was my first experience of Dan Kennedy, direct response Marchketer extraordinnaire. A great book on it’s own and one of many brilliant books by Dan. Be warned that it will lead you down a rabbit hole
Great List. Thanks for sharing. Read quite a few but there’s some that really interest me that I haven’t read yet. My local library wil be very busy as will my headphones on a few (Audible).
